Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Part Two
"Yes, indeed, this is the greatest neighborhood with the greatest neighbors in Loganville (nah, you're the greatest anywhere!). I just want to sincerely thank you for all your kindness and concern since the illness and death of my husband, Gary. You have been such a comfort to me, and I sincerely appreciate each and every one of you. When I move to North Carolina to be with my family (and I don't know yet when that will be), I am going to miss you deeply. But just know, in the meantime, that you are appreciated and loved." - Emma

Neighbors Helping Neighbors
Dexter Whaley, John Sharp and Alvin Kidd helped Joe with some tree work in his yard. Joe sent over a special note to share:
"Thursday and Friday of this past week, John, Alvin, and Dexter came over to my house and assisted me, (Done most of the work,) in the cutting down and removal of three dead trees. Thanks guys for your neighborly kindness." - Joe
We're blessed to have so many great neighbors and it's always nice to share our appreciation and gratitude with them! Thanks, guys.

Something to Think About
Check out the Great American Bake Sale here: http://gabs.strength.org/site/PageServer?pagename=GABS_homepage
Why Should You Hold a Bake Sale? (Taken from the GABS Web Site)
1. 100% of the funds you raise help feed kids.
2. Funds you raise from your local bake sale stay local, supporting after-school and summer feeding programs in your community —food programs that hundreds and thousands of kids depend on.
3. It's a fun solution with a large impact.
4. You can host bake sale based on your schedule and in your community. You don't have to train for six months to run a marathon or make a large donation to make a huge difference.
Let's start thinking about an upcoming yard sale (before it gets too hot outside).

The Critters are Taking Over
Ms. Emma recently had her home critter proofed by a local company specializing in pest control.
The Patty's trapped a suspected flying squirrel in their attic, but the little guy squeezed his way through the 1-inch hole in the live trap. He's still on the lam and munchin' on the Christmas decorations.
The Kidd's have placed a live trap in their front yard. Alvin traps the squirrels and releases them at nearby Black Shoals.
Here are some tips to keep pests out of your house:
- Trim all branches eight to 10 feet from the house so animals cannot jump from a tree to the roof.
- Install a chimney cap and secure it tightly to keep raccoons from setting up residency.
- Fix damaged screens in roof, soffit, and gable vents.
- Keep bird feeders 15 feet from the house; store birdseed and pet food in sealed containers.
- Keep the woodpile away from the house; mice can start families in it and then decide to move into your house.
- Seal around dryer vents and other gaps in the foundation and siding.

Snow Day!
for neighbors of LaFayette Ridge. After a brief power
outage (or two), the loss of cable TV for several hours,
and no school on Monday, things are returning to normal
for our neighborhood and the city of Loganville.
Here's a few snapshots from our fun in the snow.
