LaFayette's Loch Ness?
Does LaFayette Ridge have it's own version of the Loch Ness monster lurking around? Two neighbors have spotted what they describe as a large cat, possibly a bobcat.
It all started a few months ago when Ms. Emma heard a commotion on her back deck. She went out to see Max the cat cornered by a large, aggressive animal that made a hissing/crying sound.
Then, a few weeks ago, the Finchum's daughter came inside after walking the dog and was described as "white as a ghost." She told her mom that she just saw a "baby lion." The same hissing/crying noises were heard a few moments later.
When Ms. Emma visited the Patty's house, she saw Jim's stuffed bobcat and said that is indeed the animal that cornered Max on the deck.
Have you seen the LaFayette bobcat? Be on the lookout. . .

Possible Break in Neighborhood Vandal Case?
A possible break in the LaFayette Ridge/Barrington Manor neighborhood vandalism case has neighbors excited and anxious to learn more.
The tentative news is that teenage boys were restrained and/or arrested vandalizing Barrington Manor Tuesday night.
UPDATE: No arrests were made. Perhaps being "run-off" from LaFayette Ridge and Barrington Manor will scare them off (for a while at least).

Stolen Neighborhood Watch Sign Found
Thanks to Vicki Smith for her attentiveness in finding LaFayette Ridge's stolen neighborhood watch/patrol sign. The sign was presumably taken by the vandals during one of their recent visits to the neighborhood.
While out walking in Barrington Manor Monday night, Vicki came across the sign at Barrington's front entrance. The sign has been returned to its original place at the front of the neighborhood.

Positive Neighborhood News
With the recent neighborhood vandals and crime clogging our neighborhood blog, we are happy to report that several great things are also happening in the lives of LaFayette Ridge neighbors.
Eddie Myers was honored by the Gwinnett Rotary Club at their luncheon on Monday after being named Firefighter of the Year. Eddie was featured and interviewed on CBS46 Atlanta News. Eddie is a Battalion Chief with the Gwinnett County Fire Department.
Eddie & Angie Myers' daughter Autumn will tie the knot on Saturday, June 19th.
Joe Camp is recovering nicely from a recent hospital stay. Each day he is gaining strength and feeling better. He and Evelyn are enjoying spending time together and with their beautiful Husky puppies, Midnight and Shadow.
As mentioned in an earlier post, Glenn & Connie Thompson's son Tyler recently graduated from Loganville High School and was named Star Student. Tyler has accepted a scholarship to Georgia State University and will begin this fall.
The Patty's are tickled blue to be expecting a baby boy this fall. The child will be the third baby in the neighborhood this year as Mark & Connie Finchum's daughter Kimberly will welcome a baby boy in July and Jimmy & Leslie White recently welcomed a grandson.
LaFayette Ridge's Tom Scruggs, along with his band Festers Farm, will be playing a local gig this weekend at Rudy's on Hwy 78. The band plays all over the state of Georgia and say it will be nice to play close to home.

Vandals: 3 Hits In A Little Over A Week
The Chandlers spotted four young men in their yard around 3:10 a.m. Tuesday morning after their motion detector signaled that someone was in the yard. Tim scared them off and they scattered. Three of them ran down the main neighborhood road, and one ran behind the woods in the Walsh's yard.
The Walton County Sheriff's Department was called again and took a report.
The Owens' yard was also hit. Their decorative pineapple is still missing.'
Update: Our nearby neighbors on LaFayette Way (closer to the Sharon Church Rd. side of Johnson Road) have reported that the vandals have hit their street as well. A ceramic owl is missing from one of their homes.
Update 2: Our "Driveway Patrol" came in and we've installed it near our fence/garage. So far, it seems to be working well in notifying us when someone pulls into the driveway. The only shortfall is that the range is just 30 feet (and the side view is 20 degrees). Also, they run on batteries, so we'll just have to see how quickly they need to be replaced.
