Officers from the Loganville Police Department and deputies from the Walton County Sheriff's Department responded to an armed robbery call at the Texaco gas station at the corner of GA Hwy 20 and Sharon Church Road Thursday night around 7: 30 p.m. The suspect entered the gas station and produced a hand gun. He fled on foot and was not found.

Exercise Your Civic Duty
Early/Advanced voting is still open for Walton County residents. There are two different ballots/elections for our district - the presidential primary and the runoff election for House District 107 between Tom Kirby and Paul Smith. You may also vote this Saturday, Feb. 25th.
You can also vote via absentee ballot. They must be requested by March 2nd.

New Burning Requirements for Walton Co.
Under the Environmental Protection Division’s Open Burning Rules, counties (like Walton) with populations exceeding 65,000 must require anyone burning vegetative material for the purpose of land clearing to use an Air Curtain Destructor.

Stray Dogs in the Neighborhood
Several LaFayette Ridge neighbors have complained recently about stray dogs roaming the neighborhood. Please remember that Walton County has a leash law. Restrain your pets and help keep our neighborhood a safe and happy place. Residents have indicated that they will start calling Animal Control if the problem persists.
Walton County Animal Control
Here's the Walton County Code of Ordinances for Animals:
(Ord. of 12-2-1997, § 4) Sec. 10-5. - Duty to keep animals under restraint while off owner's property.
(a) It shall be the duty of the animal owner or anyone having a animal in their possession to keep the animal under restraint and control at all times while the animal is off the real property limits of the owner, possessor or custodian. For the purpose of this section, an animal shall be deemed under control when off the owners real property limits when:
(1) The animal is within a vehicle, parked or in motion;
(2) The animal is properly confined within a secured enclosure with the property owners permission;
(3) The animal is securely restrained by a leash or other method held by a competent person; or
(4) The animal is under immediate voice command of a competent person at all times.

Runoff Election Set for March 6
With 99 percent of the precincts reporting in the Georgia House District 107 Special Election, it would appear that newcomer Paul Smith and Tom Kirby are headed for a runoff on March 6. The Special Election is to fill the unexpired term of Rep. Len Walker who resigned to take a full time ministerial position.
