Doug's Obituary

TAYLOR - William Douglas Taylor, of Loganville, Georgia, died Friday, September 6, 2013. He was 53 years old. A Memorial Service will be held at 7 PM on Monday, September 9, 2013 in the Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home, Loganville. The Rev. Jerry Meredith will officiate. Doug leaves behind his Wife, Maria Montalvo Taylor, and his two Daughters, Olivia and Christina; Parents, William and Beverly Taylor, of Covington, GA; Brother and Sister-in-law, Jeffrey and Allison Taylor, of Rock Hill, SC. He was a proud graduate of Clemson University. Mr. Doug, as he was known by the students, was an avid supporter of education with hands on involvement. He worked tirelessly with the schools of Walton County, leaving behind a little bit of himself at each one. At YES there is the forest planted by the Focus Students. Those trees now stand over 20 feet tall. At Sharon he served on the School Council, raised funds for and helped build the brick walk and picnic pavilion. At LMS he has put in 100s of hours with the FFA and the bi-annual butt sales, forest education, and helping prep the students for competition. At LHS he continued his work with the FFA and was an avid supporter of the Varsity Girls Volleyball Team. He continued that support with the Ohana Volleyball Club. In his professional life, Doug was a Forester. He worked with the Georgia Forestry Association, Project Learning Tree, The Billy Landcaster Forestry Camp, FFA Camp, and various forestry camps held in Georgia. He loved being outside and working with nature. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Loganville High and Middle Schools FFA Chapters. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 PM on Monday, September 9, 2013 at the Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 670 Tom Brewer Road, Loganville, GA 30052. 770-466-1544.
