Police Visit LaFayette Ridge Saturday Night

A deputy from the Walton County Sheriff's Department visited LaFayette Ridge on Saturday night after four young men entered the neighborhood and attempted to approach a home after dark while wearing backpacks and carrying flash lights.

The Owens'/Myers' saw the boys (described as being between ages 17-20) park in the cul-de-sac on LaFayette Place, exit the vehicle with their flashlights on and attempt to cut through their yard headed toward LaFayette Court. When they were confronted, they said they lived in "that house," pointing in the direction of the Whaley's house. They were told they needed to leave. The boys got back into the car and drove through the rest of the neighborhood before leaving. Shortly thereafter, the Walton County Sheriff's Deputy showed up, shining a flood light in various yards, presumably looking for the boys.

This week is Spring Break for Walton County Schools. We have some neighbors out of town. Please keep an eye out for our neighbors and our neighborhood.

More to come. . .

UPDATE: The boys have been identified. One of them is indeed a LaFayette Ridge teenager. His parents were out of town and he was attempting to bring his friends over without their permission. The police were called after the boys left LaFayette Ridge and parked in Barington. They crossed Johnson Road and cut through the woods to access the home. Someone saw them and called the police. Everyone and everything is okay.
