Facing an unexpected absence of $3.2 million from the local budget, the Walton County Board of Education voted to increase the millage rate at Tuesday’s called meeting.
After discussing the budget shortfall in the monthly board work session, the board voted to increase the millage rate to 19.3, more than a percentage point higher than the previously set 18.25, but still below last year’s 19.6 millage rate.

When I worked for Walton County Schools as General Manager School Support Services, I attended budget meetings.
ReplyDeleteI told Superintendant Tim Lull, and John Robinson that building schools that were not cost effected because of the way some of them were built, like a (Taj-Mahal.) Long very wide hallways that run the length of a school, plus being thirty feet high serves no purpose, and it needs to be heated and cooled, lots of wasted taxpayers money.
If you ever get the chance to visit the old and new schools, you will see wasteful spending from old to new, it does nothing to increase the ability of students learning. The above is just my observations and opinion.
