Firefighters were called out to a fire incident in the 4200 block of Peace Rose Place, Loganville, in Gwinnett County at about 12:45 p.m. Thursday. According to a press release from Gwinnett Fire and Emergency, the caller was the homeowner who told authorities that he was home at the time of a home invasion and that the intruder had set the residence on fire.

UPDATE on Henderson Ridge Home Invasion:
The burglary suspect, Paul Slater, was taken off a ventilator at Gwinnett Medical Center on Wednesday. He is expected to make a full recovery. According to the WCSO, he will be charged with aggravated assault, burglary and possession of tools for the commission of burglary.

Neighborhood Watch Meeting Set for Feb. 21st
A neighborhood watch meeting is planned for Feb. 21st at Sharon Elementary School in the cafeteria. The meeting will take place from 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Some of the focus of the Neighborhood Watch meetings include a security assessment of the subdivision, giving residents a better understanding of the zones patrolled by the WCSO, how and when to report suspicious activity and reporting incidents to 911.

LaFayette Ladies Outing - Gun Training/Range
The next LaFayette Ladies Outing is in the works. The plans are to have a gun expert visit the neighborhood and provide a gun safety/training event for the ladies of LaFayette Ridge. Future plans include going to a gun range (Evelyn's son-in-law has a range at his home in Walnut Grove) and shooting guns.

Home Invasion & Shooting in Henderson Ridge
A mother of two shot an intruder in her home in Henderson Ridge Friday around noon. According to the police, the man rang the doorbell several times. When no one came to the door, he broke into the home using a crowbar. The mother grabbed her two children (9-year-old twins), her gun (a .38) and hid in the attic space. The man found her and she shot him 5 times. He fled and crashed nearby.
